The passacaglia for harpsichord

This program includes some of the most beautiful passacaglias for keyboard. The passacaglia is one of the most animated compositions of the 17th and 18th centuries, and inspired numerous European composers, who gave the best of themselves when writing in this form.

J.S. Bach knew and admired the German composers whose works make up this program. He studied and copied many of their works.
